Prostate gland
The prostate gland is a small, firm, walnut-sized gland that is part of the male reproductive system.
Location and Structure
• Position: It sits deep inside the pelvis, located directly below the urinary bladder and just in front of the rectum.
• Size: It is about the size of a walnut (weighing roughly 30 grams) in younger men, and it naturally grows larger as a man ages.
• Anatomy: It wraps around the upper portion of the urethra—the tube that carries urine from the bladder and semen through the penis.

Main Functions
• Secreting Seminal Fluid: It produces a milky, alkaline fluid that mixes with sperm cells from the testicles and secretions from the seminal vesicles to form semen. This fluid nourishes and protects sperm, helping them survive in the acidic environment of the female reproductive tract.
• Ejaculation: Muscles inside the prostate contract during orgasm to forcefully push the semen through the urethra and out of the body.
